Few would readily sign up for a product launch that involved intense cardio training, even when plugging a sportswear brand.

It turns out, however, that the Japanese design wunderkind Jun Takahashi, of the fashion label Undercover, has enough pull to lure a pack of celebrities to come out partying in trainers and jogging bottoms, running tights and sports bras.

For the launch of the Gyakusou collection, a collaboration between Nike and Undercover, Takahashi, an avid runner, was joined by local stars including the actor Shawn Yue Man-lok, the singer-actress Fiona Sit Hoi-kei and the leading triathlete Lee Chi-wo to run all the way uphill to the Peak Lookout on Thursday night.

Takahashi has organised celebrity runs before, bringing them to Tokyo and Milan last year.

The radio show host Jan Lamb Hoi-fung led the run, finishing in less than 18 minutes.

For perhaps the first time yet, the party pack downed energy drinks and bottles of mineral water before heading off for the free-flowing bubbly.
