Tang Wei recalls Christmas memories and gets as giddy as a little girl at tree-lighting ceremony
Mainland actress Tang Wei's inner little girl shined through as she and Santa Claus lighted the Christmas tree at Festival Walk on Tuesday.
The decorations at the Kowloon Tong mall are inspired by Lapland, where Father Christmas comes from and an actual winter wonderland in Finland. Festival Walk features a 21-metre-tall Christmas tree, a snow-covered wooden cabin, a train station and a post office.
'I'm so excited. I'm experiencing a great Christmas atmosphere here,' Tang said. 'I feel like I'm in a fairy tale, such as Rapunzel or Thumbelina.' Posing with Santa Claus, she even borrowed his bell and shook it avidly.
'The most memorable Christmas gift I have ever gotten was a card from a boy I was secretly in love with during primary school,' she said. 'And I spent the most memorable Christmas in Seattle, when I was filming Late Autumn in 2009, drinking the best red wine I've ever had with my colleagues.'
In a purple-and-white cheongsam with a modern twist, Tang said she felt grateful this holiday season. And no wonder; she won a best actress award for Late Autumn at the Yeong Pyeong Awards in Busan, South Korea, last month. The movie also stars actor Hyun Bin.
