Living life after being an Idol

Wait is a little different ... than the stuff that I've released lately. It's more of an emotional song, a sadder song, I guess. Most songs out there tend to be on the sadder side. I try to avoid ones that are all depressing and [full of] self-pity. But to be honest, it was a genuine emotion I was feeling at the time.
In Hong Kong, we took the MTR ... and it was so different from the subway in New York or the Metro in Los Angeles. It didn't smell or anything. It was a nice change.
I appreciate [the American Idol link] ... because a lot of people watch that television show, and to be able to have an audience of 30 million people every week, that's amazing. That's not an opportunity that singers have normally. But because of the show, I was able to reach an audience that I would have never been able to reach out to ... if I would've done it any other way, they probably wouldn't have even given me a second of their time.
I like ... being able to experience things that exceed my expectations or other people's expectations. One of them was being in the finale of American Idol. I did not expect myself to be there and so to actually be there, live that moment and take it all in, I realised all the work that I did that brought me there.
I sure would've ... loved to have done a duet with [the late American singer] Eva Cassidy. She's been a huge inspiration for me. She had such emotion in her voice and the way she did the arrangements of her songs was amazing.
I appreciate ... my fans so much. It means so much to me, all that they do. It's so hard for me to understand how they are so passionate. I wonder, 'What did I do that made them so passionate, so supportive?' I certainly never thought, 'What can I do to get people to become passionate fans?' I never did that, so it's like I just went about doing what I did. I feel very blessed to have the group of fans that I have.
