Darren Beadman saves his best for the big days and he can halt the red-hot run of Douglas Whyte in the Jockey Challenge today.

Beadman - $2.60 second pick combines strong rides in the international features with a handy support card and gets the benefit of odds-on 'banker' Captain Sweet.

Drawn low in a Class One Handicap (1,400m), Captain Sweet gives the Australian almost guaranteed points on a day when placings will be at a premium.

Previous to Frankie Dettori's dramatic International Jockeys' Challenge win at Happy Valley on Wednesday, Whyte had won the last five.

The Durban Demon has his usual strong selection, with nine rides - including Ambitious Dragon in the Hong Kong Cup.

But Beadman seems to have the consistency across the board courtesy of being stable rider for John Moore, who provides all nine of his runners.

In the four features, Beadman rides Mighty High (Vase), Admiration (Sprint), Xtension (Mile) and Irian (Cup). As well as Captain Sweet (race Three), Beadman also teams up on Sunny Fay (race 2), Elegance Klammer (race six), Straight Gold (race eight) and Kyara (race 10).

Whyte has a book that can't be ignored and he is $2.20 top pick late last night.

Punters looking for a long shot should take some of the 125-1 offered about Tim Clark (five rides).
