Claim: Containing sugar derivatives and precious oils, this gel cleanser dissolves impurities and make-up. When massaged into the skin, it turns into a delicate oil. From Harvey Nichols.
Mikimoto Cosmetics - Make-up Remover (HK$300/80ml)
Claim: This product - containing pearl protein, anti-ageing agent Squalane and an inflammation-reducing herbal extract - is made up of two layers, one oil-based and the other water-based. Recommended for eyes and lips.
Verdict: All three removers feel gentle and none irritate the eye area. We like Mikimoto Cosmetics' formula, which removes make-up efficiently, leaving the skin feeling smooth and moisturised. Chanel's gel takes more effort to rub into the face but makes the skin feel clean and supple, especially when using the accompanying cotton cloth. Benefit's liquid make-up remover feels pleasantly cool on the skin and gives a fresh but slightly drying sensation. It works well with a cotton bud to correct eye make-up mistakes, thanks to its no-rinse formula.
