NBA veteran Gary Payton encouraged aspiring players to embrace all aspects of life, not just basketball, at a press conference on Sunday. 'You are not always going to make it into basketball. You will not always be an NBA or WBNA player,' he said.

Payton said young players should keep their options open and set several goals.

'Go to school, do the right thing and then be successful,' he said.

Payton joined several other ex-NBA players in an exhibition game later in the evening in Macau's CotaiArena.

The game featured basketball legends, including Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman and Penny Hardaway.

The 10 players, plus another three renowned US street ballers, were split into red and white teams.

Led by Rodman and Hardaway, the red team won 143-139.

The climax of the night came when Rodman and Pippen signed their shoes and flung them into an excited crowd after the game.
