Gold Racer followed his impressive debut show with a win at his second start, continuing the strong season for trainer Peter Ng Bik-kuen, whose patience has made the difference with the four-year-old. Ng, who has 15 wins this term, purchased Gold Racer at a New Zealand breeze-up sale two years ago, but has waited until this season to unleash the powerful-looking gelding. 'He's only been here five months,' Ng said. 'But he came here having barrier trialled twice. Horses when they're young, you have to teach them before you bring them over. You can't just start from scratch. He is a late maturing horse and that's why we have waited to when he is four-years-old.'
