Canadian student missing for a week

Joyee Chan

A Canadian student has been missing in Hong Kong for a week.

On December 21, Joseph Basha (pictured), 25, told his flatmate Dino Lee he was going out for food. He left their Jordan flat at about 2am and has not been seen since.

Lee said Basha had seemed 'spaced out' recently and could have taken sleeping pills. Basha is also reported to have sleepwalking problems but he was chatting on Facebook until 2am, ruling out sleepwalking.

Basha moved to Hong Kong in 2008 and was studying at the University of Hong Kong. He is also the lead singer of a band called Milkteeth.

His family arrived in Hong Kong yesterday to help with the search.

Basha is about 1.7 metres tall and weighs about 60 kilograms, with light brown eyes and medium-length brown hair.

He was last seen wearing a black jacket, a dark shirt and jeans.

Anyone with information should call the police on 2761 2586.
