Hats on for a new start

Jim Chim Sui-man, comedian

I'm developing a new show called Online in Love. It's about our daily love affairs with our smartphones and the internet, so I'll probably be working during New Year's Eve and on the very day. As far as resolutions go, I vow to continue to put every experiential element in my life into my theatre pieces - it's about keeping it real, and really funny. This past year, I've seen people walking around looking all sad and uptight. There's been a lot of worrying going on with the upcoming chief executive election and the threat of another global economic crisis. In the new year, I'd love to see Hong Kong people with shiny, happy faces.

Jami Gong, TakeOut Comedy Club founder

My son was born in July, so I wish to be the best father I can be. I also wish to be the best husband possible in the new year, as I'm getting married in August.

Kevin Ma, founder of Hypebeast.com

My new year's resolution is to explore Fiji. I've heard so many people talking about it and have seen so many photos. But because of the long-haul travel - and I still haven't had time to plan a nice trip - I still haven't had the chance to see the place for myself. So hopefully I can make it come true in the coming year.

Margaret Chung Lai-kei, television actress

I wish to become a better mum. I'm learning step by step. Sometimes there are challenges, but I'm willing to learn how to take better care of my daughter, to support her and give her all the love I can.

Jaakko Sorsa, chef of Scandinavian restaurant Finds

My new year's resolution is to get wet inside and out. I love water. I will swim more so I can be surrounded by water. I will also drink more water every day. Working in a busy kitchen, I tend to forget to drink enough water. And for the coming year, I'll drink more ... high-mineral, low-mineral, sweet or salty, as long as it tastes good.
