Dreams set in stones

We all went green with envy when Christie's brought the Elizabeth Taylor collection to town last month. The violet-eyed star's stupendous hoard of fine jewellery, featuring many spectacularly coloured stones, gave us a rare glimpse into the world of an avid collector, and of the men who indulged her passions. Most of us will never have such exquisite objects showered upon us, nor will we be able to pay for them ourselves. But as they say, a girl can dream.

We love the look of uneven, naturally shaped stones lately, and this ethnic-inspired necklace from Platinum Heart (HK$350,000) boasts rough-cut polki diamonds and emerald beads set in 22 carat gold. Available at Platinum Heart, 10/F, One Lang Kwai Fong, Central, tel: 2801 6161
