Winter is here and that means a new range of perfumes. We've tested some of them, so you don't have to.
Burberry Body (HK$890/85ml) is a perfume predominately made with rose and iris. At first, the fragrance smells deep and woody, but soon fades to a powdery, clean scent. It is sweet and light, but wares off quickly and isn't as distinct as other perfumes from the brand, such as Burberry Brit.
Guerlain Idylle Eau Sublime (HK$760/100ml) is a soft, feminine perfume made with Bulgarian rose essence and rose water, freesia, jasmine and patchouli, with slight accents of raspberry and lychee. Rose is the dominant scent but, overall, the perfume is reminiscent of a bunch of mixed flowers. The fragrance is subtle and sweet and can work during day or at nighttime.
Lancome Tresor Midnight Rose (HK$620/75ml) combines rose, raspberry and blackcurrant. The perfume has a warm fruity scent that fades to a soft, sweet rose after a few hours. It is quite heavy and smells artificial if too much is used, so only one or two sprays, please. The perfume is better suited to nighttime.
Chanel Jersey (HK$1,200/200ml) is part of Chanel's Les Exclusifs collection. The fresh fragrance is based on lavender, with vanilla and musk accents. Jersey has a distinct, clean scent that is invigorating and powerful with subtle sweet notes. The fragrance is great for daytime use and lasts for hours.
