Retired Chui keen to come out to help launch old boss's new venture

Primo is keen to show that it's more than just another modelling agency. The company, which opened its books on January 1, celebrated on Tuesday with a lavish party at The Mira hotel and a fashion show featuring 100 local models.

Socialite and former model Cathy Chui Chi-kay was on hand to support Paul Lau, her former manager and Primo co-founder.

'I had to come and show my support because he was my manager when I joined the business at the age of 14,' she said.

While the models paraded down the runway in couture evening gowns and diamond, mother-of-three Chui said she wasn't feeling brave enough to join them.

'Modelling has been fun, but now I haven't done it for a while I wouldn't dare take to the stage,' she said. 'I felt nervous when I heard the music. When I feel like modelling these days, I wear a pretty dress and walk around the house.'

Happily married to Martin Lee Ka-shing, son of Henderson Land boss Lee Shau-kee, Chui is still considered by many of her peers to be one of the most successful local models - on or off the catwalk.
