Shaving
This is the most common way boys remove unwanted facial hair and hairs from their arms, legs and chest. Girls tend to shave to get rid of fuzz from their underarms and legs.
Pros: it's quick, easy and cheap.
Cons: it can cause cuts and razor burns if you're not careful. Because shaving severs only hair close to the skin and does not remove the hair from its roots, re-growth is quick, and stubble is rough and sharp. 
Threading 
In this ancient method, a twisted strand of cotton thread is rolled across the skin. As it does so, the thread grasps and removes unwanted hairs. It acts as a lasso, trapping and lifting hairs right out of their follicles. Girls mainly use this technique for removing facial hair on the upper lip, face and eyebrows.
Pros: it's chemical free and can last up to three weeks. It's not as painful as waxing. And it can be expensive if you have it done professionally. 
Cons: not recommended for removing beards, so not a technique for guys. 
Electrolysis
A low electrical current is passed to the hair's root through a thin needle-shaped electrode. This kills the hair and its root forever. Boys and girls can use this method to remove hair from almost anywhere on their body.
Pros: hair is removed effectively and permanently. 
Cons: it is time-consuming and very painful, so small areas are best suited for this type of hair removal - for example, the upper lip rather than the chest or legs. The procedure should be done by a professional, so it is expensive and you will need multiple treatments to achieve permanent hair removal.
Waxing 
Hair is removed from the roots with this procedure. First, heated wax is applied to an area of hair with a wooden spatula. Paper or a strip of muslin fabric is smoothed directly over the wax, and then pulled off quickly in the opposite direction of hair growth - a bit like pulling a strip of Sellotape off. Girls use this method to remove hair from the arms, underarms, eyebrows, legs and the bikini area. Boys can use wax to get rid of hair from their chest, back, arms and legs.
Pros: it lasts longer - two to six weeks before hair re-grows. Hair will grow back softer and finer, so stubble is not a problem. Large areas can be tackled. 
Cons: it is not for the faint-hearted. This procedure can be painful, because when hairs are stripped away, the top layer of skin goes with it. The skin can become red and puffy for several hours afterwards. It's also time-consuming and can be expensive if done professionally in a beauty salon.
Depilatory or hair-removal creams
These contain a mixture of chemicals that react with the protein structure of the hair and turn it into jelly. After applying the cream, the hair on the skin's surface dissolves and can be washed away. Girls mostly use these creams on the underarms, arms and legs. Boys can use this method for their arms, legs, chest and back.
Pros: it's easy, painless and fast. Re-growth takes longer and doesn't cause stubble. The creams can remove hair quickly from a large area and the method is useful for those hard-to-shave areas, such as the back, knees and ankles. It's best for removing fine, downy hair. 
Cons: the creams can be expensive. They also smell awful and can be messy to apply. People with coarse hair may find that the products are not strong enough to completely remove unwanted hair. They may cause skin irritation or allergies in some people, so try the cream in a test patch first to see if there are any bad reactions.
