Japanese companies sign up

A GROUP of Japanese trading houses, shipping companies and financial institutions said it had signed a two-year agreement to develop a remote area of northeast China bordering Russia and North Korea.

The Northeast Asia Economic Co-operation Committee, chaired by Setsuya Tabuchi, a senior adviser to Nomura Securities Co, said it signed the six-point co-operation accord with authorities from the Chinese city of Hunchun.
