Yantian receives two cranes
YANTIAN International Container Terminals (YICT) of southern China has taken delivery of two of the three new quay cranes ordered this year.
The post-Panamax cranes, built by Mitsubishi of Japan, can handle the world's largest container vessels.
Each crane can handle up to 51 tonnes of cargo. The third will arrive next month.
The cranes, which join the three existing quay cranes at Yantian, will enable the port to reach its full phase-one capacity.
Phase one provides two 50,000 tonne container berths, one general purpose and three general cargo berths, 50 hectares of marshalling and holding areas, and a full range of warehousing and inspection facilities.
Hong Kong International Terminals, a subsidiary of Hutchison Whampoa, is the majority owner and manager of YICT.
