ToTT's and Roof Terrace

The Excelsior Hotel, 34/F, 281 Gloucester Road, Causeway Bay Tel: 2837 6786

The vibe: this glamorous hotel rooftop bar attracts a mix of executives and couples looking to take in the stunning 180-degree views of the city, harbour and Victoria Park. ToTT's is separated into two sections: the indoor portion features a large, elegantly designed lounge with candlelit tables, cosy designer furniture, a beautiful, blue stained-glass bar area and has jazz tunes playing softly in the background. The alfresco area, which was expanded a couple of years ago on the hotel's western side, is a wooden deck with seating for about 60 people.

The drinks: cocktails make up most of Tott's extensive drinks list, although there is also a five-page wine list. Several of the cocktails, including the Pearl of the Bay and Dim Sum Thing (both HK$98), are infused with herbal teas, making for unusual flavours. The house-recommended Moonlight Lychee Blossom cocktail (HK$98, lychee vodka, French elderflower liqueur, fresh lemon juice and champagne) was our favourite. I was very happy with my Taylor's 10-Year-Old Tawny Port (HK$78), which warmed me up on a chilly evening. If you're in ToTT's from 5pm to 8pm then you can order a more reasonable HK$58 cocktail that changes daily.

The verdict: with breathtaking views and a cosy atmosphere, ToTT's is a good place to discuss business or enjoy a romantic night out.
