Hong Kong's new national academy coach, Kim Pan-Gon, will see some of his young players in action for the first time next week when the under-14s and under-17s play in the HKFA International Youth Invitation Tournament 2012 in Diamond Hill. 'This tournament is a vital part of the pathway we are building for young players to progress through the ranks to senior football, and is a chance for us to assess our under-14 and under-17 players in a competitive environment,' he said. Korean Kim played in Hong Kong from 2000-2004 and later managed South China and the national squad. The January 27-29 tournament sees the under-17s face Singapore, Indonesia and Macau, while the under-14s face Singapore, Thailand and Qingdao.
