Cathay Pacific International Chinese New Year Night Parade, 8pm, starts at Hong Kong Cultural Centre piazza in Tsim Sha Tsui and ends at Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel & Towers. Some 12 floats and 23 performing groups will be on parade.
January 23 to February 5
Hong Kong Well-wishing Festival, Lam Tsuen Wishing Square, Tai Po. About 1,000 people born in the Year of the Dragon will make a wish together on the first day of the Lunar New Year in an attempt to set a Guinness World Record.
January 24
Lunar New Year fireworks, 8pm, Victoria Harbour. A total of 39,898 shells will be discharged in the 23-minute extravaganza, and people should check out a new location from which to watch the fireworks - Legco Square at the new government headquarters in Admiralty, which will be open to the public.
