Fung shui master is in his element
Fung shui master Raymond Lo claims to have foreseen the resignation of Russian president Bois Yeltsin in 1999, the crash of the Nasdaq stock market in 2000, the break-up of Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman in 2001, and the outbreak of the Gulf wars in 1990 and 2003.
He also says he predicted the capture of Saddam Hussein in 2003, the economic recovery in Hong Kong and the re-election of President George W. Bush in 2004.
More recently, he forecast a bad year for Osama bin Laden in 2011. 'If you look at my article for the Year of the Rabbit, I said 2011 would bring bad luck for Bin Laden. This was the year that he died,' he says.
Lo, who used his website last year to forecast a bad Year of the Dragon for Steve Jobs, says he had watched the Apple founder since he first made his illness public and that the ups and downs in his state of health related to fung shui influences.
In fung shui, the five elements of water, fire, wood, metal and earth influence every aspect of life. They also have a relationship with each other that can bring good fortune, health and harmony or destruction and cause bad fortune, problems with health and disharmony.
Jobs was born on a fire day which made him a fire person, which needs wood (like fuel) to support it, Lo says.
'He became more seriously ill from 2009, which is the year of the earth and the earth exhausts fire,' he says. 'It was a very powerful earth year that exhausted his fire.'
Lo says when the element of wood was strong, Jobs' health improved, as it did in the tiger year of 2010 - a strong wood year - when Jobs was given a good prognosis after a liver transplant the year before.
'In Chinese medicine the liver is the wood element, so this transplant gave him wood support,' says Lo. But this all changed at the end of 2010 when his fire was exhausted. In the rabbit year of 2011, the wood influence began to weaken. This dragon year is a water earth year with no wood or fire. The year of the rabbit was a wood year but it was yin wood, which is very weak. It is like a flower compared to the strong yang wood of the year before, which is a tree.
'What we saw in the first half of 2011, he became weaker. Then autumn arrived, which is a metal season, and metal is considered the destroyer of wood. With the flower wood being weaker it is easier to destroy. So in the later part of the year, Steve Jobs had no fire support and he became even weaker and announced his resignation. His wood did not have fire to support it and that is why at the end of 2011 he [died].'
Lo also points out that although the water dragon year only began on the January 23, almost four months after Jobs died, it is usual to see the influence of the dragon before the rabbit year ends, probably from October onwards, which explains why Jobs died in October.
