Joyee Chan

Simplicity meets elegance with the art of wire jewellery. Thread a few beads onto copper wires, then wrap and weave the cord into whimsical lacy earrings, bracelets and necklaces. Artist Kiwi Lo Cho-wing, from Cinderella Jewelry, shows Joyee Chan how to design a beaded wire bracelet.
What you'll need:  
Assorted beads, crystals or cat's-eye stones 
Copper wire and wire cutters   
Round-nose pliers
Flat-nose pliers   
Steps:   
1. Use the round-nose pliers. Loop the wire around the bottom jaw firmly three times so that you make a three-petal flower. String a square bead on the open end of the wire. Close the wire by making three loops again and trim with the wire cutters. Create two more identical pieces.   
2. Using the same technique, loop a wire once, string a round bead, close with a second loop and trim. Create a further 14 identical pieces.   
3. Loop a wire four times so that you make a four-petal flower and trim.  Create two more identical pieces.   
4. Make clasps by shaping the wire into a figure 8 and a letter U with curled tips with the round-nose pliers.   
5. Open the loops of each piece slightly with the flat-nose pliers and link the units together in the   same order as shown in the main photograph.
