What's black and white and produces perfect notes for classical piano pieces? If your guess is a Steinway grand piano, you would be half correct. BMW, partnering with the well-known piano company, has launched a limited edition 'audiophile's' automobile - the Individual 7 Series Composition. Aside from swish body finishes and interior trimmings, the luxury sedan also features a 10-channel amplifier and 18 strategically placed speakers for serious surround sound. It also comes with a collection of piano recordings from Steinway & Sons featured artists such as Vladimir Horowitz, Martha Argerich and Maurizio Pollini.

The carmaker's Wan Chai showroom unveiled the only example of this exclusive edition in Hong Kong on Thursday, one of just 125 models available worldwide, valued at HK$3.18 million. To mark the occasion and highlight the partnership, BMW invited Wong Wai-yuen, champion of the China Final at the 75th Steinway International Youth Piano Competition, to perform her winning piece on the showroom floor. Wong displayed dazzling finger work on the scale-heavy set from Danzas Argentinas by Alberto Ginastera. She was later joined by local pop composer Chiu Tsang-hei, who has written for Hong Kong Canto-pop icons such as Anita Mui Yim-fong, Jacky Cheung Hok-yau and Hacken Lee Hak-kan. The two played Lady of Brazil, a peppy duet that required a tad less technical skill than Wong's solo piece, but was a crowd-pleaser nonetheless.
