Close to the end

The old tenements at the junction of Reclamation Street and Shantung Street in Mong Kok have for decades provided shelter to hundreds of people. Today, many living there endure cramped conditions and illegal alterations. Now the dilapidated buildings - some of them more than 50 years old - will be demolished, the Urban Renewal Authority has announced. Photographer Edward Wong captured the lives of some of the tenants who, for now, still call the blocks home.
