This week we test: solid fragrances

Joyee Chan

Small and perfectly formed for slipping inside your clutch. Rubbing a little of the cream perfume onto your pulse points will immediately make people around you swoon - only in delight, fear not.

L'Occitane Cherry Princess Solid Perfume (HK$90/10g)

A sweet, fruity and refreshing scent in a cute container, but it lasts only a few seconds and doesn't carry very far.

The Body Shop Love Etc... Solid Perfume (HK$99/13g)

A delightful symphony of jasmine, vanilla and sandalwood notes in this sweet, candy-like scent. Unlike its liquid perfume twin, it is delicate and not overpowering. Trouble is you need to rub it onto your wrists once every few hours to keep the scent. Super cute heart-shaped tin.

Marc Jacobs Daisy Solid Perfume Pendant Necklace (HK$218/0.75g)

This is a cult scent for a reason - it smells great: fresh and floral, with a light woodiness. Plus the packaging is adorable.

Lush Orange Blossom Solid Perfume (HK$109/11g)

Beautiful honey and neroli notes make this a deep, spicy and intriguing scent. It blends orange blossom with ylang ylang, rosewood and sandalwood. Once the stick is pushed up, though, it won't go back.
