For Cecile Nguyen and David Chen, it was love at first sight when they were introduced by mutual friends in Cecile's hometown of Melbourne six years ago.

'I thought he had the cutest smile,' Cecile said. For David, a Hongkonger who was then living in Australia, 'Cecile was just stunning'.

Cecile, a banker, and David, an information technology consultant, wed on November 19 at the Andara Resort and Villas in Phuket.

The bride wore an Oscar de la Renta wedding gown and Jim Hjelm Occasions evening dress from Trinity Bridal, while the groom donned a Dunhill suit.

The couple quickly warmed to each other over a few romantic dinners and theatre dates.

Cecile had no doubt that David was the one for her when she suffered from an auto-immune condition a few years ago, which led to severe hair loss and significant weight gain.

'That was a very tough time both physically and emotionally,' she said. 'But David was there every step of the way. Even before we got married David was there in sickness and in health.'

David proposed when they were on holiday in Vietnam celebrating the new year of 2009. After dinner at a rooftop restaurant, he got down on one knee just as the fireworks started. 'It completely took me by surprise,' Cecile said.

'I love the way that we are so compatible and we are each other's best friend,' David added.
