Every great artist should have more than one curtain call - and Lady Gaga is no exception.

After many Hong Kong fans failed to get early tickets for her May 2 show at the AsiaWorld-Arena, it was announced yesterday the pop diva will stage an extra concert at the venue the following night.

Promoter Live Nation said the additional May 3 date on Grammy Award-winning Gaga's 'Born This Way Ball' world tour was due to 'overwhelming fan response'.

Angry fans complained after a reported 6,000 tickets for the May 2 concert went on 'priority' sale to American Express card holders at 10am on Thursday.

They were allowed to buy eight tickets per card over the phone, on the HK Ticketing website or at 29 ticketing outlets. But phone lines and internet connections at HK Ticketing went down and the outlet said at 1pm the tickets were sold out.

Those who managed to get them were either well-connected people who had paid an additional HK$205 service charge or had queued for hours overnight.

Many disappointed fans said they did not feel they had received any 'priority' treatment at all. But they will get another chance to see the Poker Face and Bad Romance singer when tickets to both the May 2 and 3 shows will go on general sale to the public at 10am on Monday via HK Ticketing outlets and internet and telephone booking systems. The AsiaWorld-Arena has a maximum capacity of 14,000, depending on the configuration and the size of the stage.

Live Nation did not respond to calls or e-mail inquiries about the number of tickets it would put on sale on Monday.

With the expected return of Gaga-mania on Monday, HK Ticketing promised to strengthen all sales channels. But a spokeswoman warned: 'As there are only two shows in Hong Kong, there will inevitably be disappointments.'

On Yahoo's auction site and online shopping portal Taobao.com, tickets for the May 2 concert were being touted at more than four times the original prices of HK$480, HK$780, HK$1,280 and HK$1,580.
