Pilpel Capsicum Turkish Salsa 200 grams for HK$70, City'super

This vegan salsa isn't your regular salsa. In fact, it contains no tomatoes, but 80 per cent roasted capsicum. Blended with Turkish herbs and spices and a touch of chilli, it's richly coloured, flavoured and textured - and thoroughly addictive.

Verdict: delicious as a dip, but also a as chicken marinade and pasta sauce.

Santa Barbara Roasted Garlic Salsa 397 grams for HK$46, City'super

You don't want to be talking to (or kissing) anyone after eating this, as the garlic and coriander flavours are strong in this chunky, tangy salsa. The fresh tomatoes and diced peppers give an enjoyable slight crunchiness to the dip.

Verdict: Watch out for the preservatives in this one.
