Carson Yeung claims bank allowed delayed payment
Lawyers for troubled tycoon Carson Yeung Ka-sing, 51, owner of Birmingham City soccer club, told the High Court yesterday that a bank manager allowed Yeung to delay mortgage repayments because his assets were frozen in connection with alleged money laundering. The lawyers were fighting an application by Wing Hang Bank to take over Yeung's Barker Road house for non-payment of the mortgage between June and September. The bank denied the claim. The case was adjourned to a date to be fixed.
Woman admits role in fake visas for helpers
Filipino woman Zenaida Tiblilog Mendoza, 52, pleaded guilty in the District Court to conspiracy to defraud, admitting helping to process more than a dozen bogus applications for helper visas.
Hospital Authority to pay paralysed woman HK$2m
The Hospital Authority has agreed to pay HK$2 million to former Ocean Park worker Katty Wong, who became paralysed after a stroke Eastern Hospital allegedly failed to diagnose soon enough. Other details of the settlement in the Court of First Instance were not disclosed.
