The chief executive says he was hurt by questions about his integrity:

Patrick Shu Wing-lee - It is hard to believe he is sincere in what he says. He should know what he can and cannot do in his capacity. How can he be so naive? A person with such status and power is expected to be whiter than white.

Charles Henning - Simply shocking, the hubris of these silver spooned wannabe 'leaders' of Hong Kong. My heart goes out to the regular, law-abiding, non-tycoon, squeezed on all sides, not-immune-from-the-law Hong Kong people that just try to get by day to day.

Mak Sai-chak - The government keeps a record of all gifts the CE receives in his official capacity. We want to know what goodies he gets in his 'private' capacity.

On calls for HK to follow Switzerland's example with tough law to curb money laundering:

Letitia Wong - Harder for wealthy locusts to park their assets in safe haven!

Bob Howe - As a 'world city'...snicker snicker... I am surprised similar initiatives aren't already in place!

On the Catholic church's campaign to support small businesses being squeezed out by chain stores:

Ed Wong - I'm not completely against chain stores but I advocate supporting corner stores. Not only for economic reasons but also it makes our street scene and activities more diversified and fun. Otherwise, all chain stores and malls are more or less the same.

Tj Hooker - I am for the support of corner shops. It gives the buzz to the local street scene which is what HK is famous for. Also, it allows the local community spirit to thrive not to mention personal security. Look at Wan Chai market, it serves local people and tourists. The ambiance is unlike anywhere else in the world. Urban Renewal Authority, take note. This is all about good town planning, to serve the needs of local people.
