For many of us, serums have become an essential part of our daily beauty routine. Beauty Buzz has tested a range of products that promise to reverse the ageing process.
Gatineau's Age Benefit Ultra-Regenerant Night Elixir (HK$1,370/15ml) is an anti-ageing and repairing night serum. The elixir has the look and feel of a milky lotion. Use your fingertips to smooth over cleansed skin before bed. The serum can be used on its own or under a moisturiser. After application, skin feels soft and has a pearly glow, but there were no obvious overnight changes to skin tone or wrinkles. Available at all Gatineau spas, stores and counters.
Kiehl's' Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution (HK$460/30ml) is made with white birch and peony extracts. The thin serum has the consistency of water. Apply four to six drops on cleansed and toned skin twice a day. It absorbs quickly and is easy to spread across the face. After a few weeks, skin is brighter and dark spots have diminished but not completely faded. Available at all Kiehl's stores and counters.
La Mer's Concentrate (HK$3,500/50ml) is a soothing and illuminating serum. After washing and toning, gently pat a small amount of the serum over the face using your fingertips. Skin feels softer and comforted straight away. Apply twice a day under moisturiser. Skin tone is noticeably brighter, and even more so after two weeks. Available at all La Mer counters.
Yves Saint Laurent Forever Youth Liberator (HK$670/30ml) is an anti-ageing serum with a thick texture that absorbs instantly, so you need to use more than the recommended three drops to cover the face. Apply morning and evening under moisturiser. Skin has a glow after use and feels soft and plump, but this fades throughout the day. No lasting changes to skin texture or appearance after two weeks. Available at all Yves Saint Laurent beauty stores and counters.
