Whistle-blowing site takes aim at organised crime in Macau's casinos
It may not be WikiLeaks, but a new whistle-blowing website which says it is dedicated to lifting the lid on organised crime in Macau's multibillion-dollar casino industry is set to make a few powerful enemies, just like its namesake.
Already, as we report today, a shot has been fired across the bows of United States-based CasinoLeaks-Macau.com by gaming regulators in the cash-rich former Portuguese enclave.
They have accused it of having a hidden agenda.
Led by Jeff Fiedler, a career trade union official who is now director of the special projects and initiatives department of a union which represents casino workers in the US, CasinoLeaks-Macau.com is talking the talk.
In a letter sent to casino regulators in the US state of Nevada last week, Fiedler said: 'We believe the issues we raise are urgent public policy concerns that cannot be ignored given the huge sums of money involved ... you are our first line of defence against the threats posed by triad involvement in international gaming.'
But can CasinoLeaks-Macau.com walk the walk?
