Julian Cheung dreaming of Derby glory
Expecting to have a horse of his own by the end of the year, singer-actor Julian Cheung Chi-lam must have been looking to learn a thing or two at the Mercedes-Benz Hong Kong Derby on Sunday in Sha Tin, where he was 'derby ambassador'.
His friend, Canto-pop star Aaron Kwok Fu-shing, whose horse arrived recently, shares the excitement. 'I'll definitely come out and offer support when Aaron's horse is ready to match,' Kwok said.
Ultimately, Cheung (pictured) says he hopes that one day he will be the proud owner of a winning horse.
Cheung hasn't decided yet whether to follow Kwok's lead and name his horse after one of his hit songs. 'I'll think about it more seriously when the horse is here,' Cheung said.
When asked about his and wife Anita Yuen Wing-yee's horse-betting strategy, Cheung said he trusted his gut feel and usually got lucky. His actress wife, however, likes to judge a horse's capability based on its name.
'Her favourite ones are the ones that have the word 'beautiful' in their names,' Cheung joked.
