Achievements

Chun-hang, 18, plays wing spiker for Second Division team Force. Last season, he was with Third Division side Force Youth. They finished third in the marathon competition run by the Volleyball Association of Hong Kong, China (VBAHK) for Second and Third Division teams.

Since Four Four, Chun-hang has been captain of his school team which came third in the A-grade Inter-school (Division 2, Kowloon) Competition in 2009-10. This school year, they lost in the last 16 of the All Hong Kong Schools Jing Ying Tournament. He also trained with the Tseung Kwan O team, who finished third in last year's Young Athletes Training Scheme tournament, organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and VBAHK.

Soundbite

'Our school team set a goal to win the gold medal in the inter-school competition,' Chun-hang says. 'Some of us were influenced by characters in the film, You Are the Apple of My Eye, and thought we should also shave our heads to show our determination. I feared I'd look terrible. But it felt good; it was the boldest act of my time at school. It showed team spirit, for many of us have been teammates for seven years. My hair has grown back, but looking at the photos brings back great memories.

'We were devastated to lose in the semi-final, but our coach, Cheung Fu-kin, encouraged us. We bounced back to win the bronze medal match and qualify for the Jing Ying Tournament.

'In 2009, we lost in the first round of this tournament, and this time, we were beaten in the second round. But we were satisfied to reach the last 16 as the standard of teams is high.'

'It's been good to make new friends from Cheung Sha Wan Catholic Secondary School at my club. They're the inter-school champions, so playing in the same team with them has really helped to improve my game.'

From his coach

'Chun-hang is the best player in his team,' says Cheung, who coaches the school team. 'He works hard in training, and day by day both he and the team improve. They did well in the inter-school tournament, but I think they were good enough to have reached the final.'

Ambitions

'My A-level exams start tomorrow,' Chun-hang says. 'I'll miss half this season's league games as they start on March 31, during the exams.

'Yet I hope to play the rest of the season and help us gain promotion to the A2 League. I'll also try to get into Hong Kong's youth squad and would like to play in competitions at university.'
