Eleven imprisoned for attacks in Sichuan
Eleven people have been sentenced to jail terms ranging from three to 13 years for recent acts of violence and vandalism in the largely Tibetan Ganzi prefecture in Sichuan, Xinhua reported. In one case, a man named Paldol and six others were convicted of robbery and vandalism in Chaggo county. They used stones and wooden sticks to attack local stores and a police station. Police abuses worry the public, state media says
The web portal of the People's Daily ran a commentary saying that controversy surrounding clauses in the amended Criminal Procedure Law passed last week reflects worries over their implementation which require a positive response from law enforcers.
