With Size on his side, Whyte can hit Peak form again
Today's Sha Tin meeting has a familiar look about it, with Douglas Whyte set to dominate and another Jockey Challenge win seemingly assured with a stellar book featuring two short-priced, John Size-trained favourites on debut.
Punters will be all over Whyte's rides Magician Code (race two) and Can Do (race three), with Size giving both three-year-olds a thorough education at the trials.
Size also has Whyte aboard G-One Winning (race seven) chasing four-straight wins, and The Peak (race eight) looking for threestraight, and both horses were odds-on in early markets.
Whyte even starts the day with a likely favourite, Metrevelli for David Ferraris, as well as Enjoy The Fun in race six.
Backing up the favourites are three Size-trained each-way chances: Enabling (race four), Voile Rouge (race nine) and Right Timing (race 10).
Whyte was 1.18 top pick last night as he chases his 25th Jockey Challenge win of the season.
The only two jockeys rated a chance of upsetting the runaway jockeys' championship leader are Australians Brett Prebble and Zac Purton.
Prebble at least has the numbers advantage over Whyte with a full book of 10 rides, to his South African's nine, and was rated a 6-1 shot. Purton was $16 with eight mostly each-way chances.
