Britain's hot shoe designer du jour, Charlotte Dellal, who was last year named best accessory designer at the British Fashion Awards, was in town this week to launch her spring-summer collection and meet her local followers.

It was her first visit to Hong Kong and, after a VIP dinner on Monday, Dellal made an appearance at Central's On Pedder store.

Her 1950s-inspired collection was shown in an organic setting featuring her spider's web trademark. Since launching her brand, Charlotte Olympia, in 2007, it has attracted A-list fans such as Sienna Miller, Sarah Jessica Parker and Alexa Chung.

The shoes flew quickly off the shelves, and so did her other accessories. Socialite and founder of fashion brand Nude is Rude, Marisa Zeman, was spotted trying on a spider's web earring.

Dellal channelled '50s glamour, sporting a summery maxi number with leafy prints and matching heels. She casually chatted with her fans and posed for photos at the cocktail party. Off the subject of shoes, the designer talked enthusiastically about her collection of mermaid novelties. 'I'm a big googler. Sometimes I search for random things just to see if they are there. My most recent purchase from the internet was a mermaid end table,' she said.
