I found a trio of interesting truffle products while shopping in City'super (Times Square, tel: 2506 2888). The Campanis tartufella buffalo milk mozzarella's greyish cast and dark specks come from the black truffle. It's delicious in a caprese salad - although skip the fresh basil that is traditionally served with the sliced tomato and mozzarella, and just season the ingredients with a drizzle of extra-virgin olive oil and a light sprinkling of rough-flaked sea salt. The cheese is HK$65.50 for 125 grams.
This Levoni Ettori truffle salami isn't quite as intense as a truffle saucisson I ate in France, but it's still very good, although it seems to be made with truffle 'flavour' rather than the real thing. It's HK$40 for 100 grams.
At HK$82 for a 50 grams, you won't be lavishly spreading Tartuflanghe white truffle honey over your morning toast - which sounds rather disgusting to have for breakfast, anyway. Instead, serve it with cheese (it would be delicious drizzled over pecorino) and crostini.
