The Sins of the Father

The Sins of the Father
by Jeffrey Archer
MacMillan (e-book)

It is a truth universally acknowledged that Jeffrey Archer is a 'master storyteller'; the fact that Archer is usually the first to acknowledge this truth is both here and there. Love him or loathe him, he knows how to spin a yarn and how to spin it once a year. The second part of a planned five-part series, The Sins of the Father will test his powers of invention (not to mention our suspension of disbelief) like never before. Harry Clifton is in a New York prison, charged with murder - only it wasn't hm what done the crime, but his alter ego, Tom Bradshaw. The almost absurdly noble Clifton has faked his own death to protect Emma Barrington, the woman he (Clifton) loves and, in part one (Only Time Will Tell), impregnated. While many believe Clifton's deception, Emma does not and sets out to find him. Before she does so, Harry is sent to the front to fight the Nazis and gain redemption. As with part one, the perspective shifts from Clifton to Emma to her brother Giles to their father Hugo. You enjoy Archer's books somehow against your will. He keeps you reading with regular hooks and cliffhangers. Same time, same place next year for part three?
