'Lucky' Leung ups his win tally and edges closer to pass mark

Trainer Andy Leung Ting-wah still has a way to go to reach his benchmark 13 wins for the season, but he did strike a blow with eight-year-old Speedy in the Class Five second event. Sent forward by Howard Cheng Yue-tin to sit outside Gorgeous Life in a modest tempo, Speedy looked beaten a number of times in the sprint home but just kept finding enough to keep his head in front and win at 21-1. Leung's luck has been on the rise since his recent victory in having his birthday recognised as a year later than previously thought - enabling him to get an extra year before compulsory retirement - and his season's win tally inched up to seven with Speedy's heroics.
