Douglas Whyte was out of the spotlight for much of the day, but he would not be denied a winner in his current form, combining with Dennis Yip Chor-hong to take the sixth event on Simple. The talented grey drew a poor alley in 11, but Whyte found a spot for him wide with cover and that proved perfect, as he swept around to pocket his major rival Electronic Fortune on the point of the turn before putting the race away. 'I couldn't ride him last time when he was a disappointment over 1,400m but he had mucus that day,' Whyte said. 'Back to 1,200m today suited him. I've always liked this horse and I'm sure he will run further but he is just a little bit weak at this stage.'
