Counting the days
Chanel hosts the opening exhibition of the 'Little Black Jacket: Chanel's classic revisited by Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfeld' exhibition opening at a Tokyo art gallery in Minami-aoyama. One hundred personalities and celebrities such as Sarah Jessica Parker, Anna Wintour, Olivier Theyskens, Uma Thurman, Zhang Ziyi, Zhou Xun, Clemence Poesy and models Freja Beha and Georgina Jagger, take on one basic Chanel black jacket, photographed by Lagerfeld and styled by Roitfeld. A star-studded list of international and Japanese guests attend. It is followed by a VIP dinner at the New York Grill, Park Hyatt.
Stars like Vanessa Paradis, Sarah Jessica Parker, Alice Dellal and Gaspard Ulliel, as well as Japanese celebrities, sit front row for Chanel's haute couture show in Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden. Supermodels Stella Tennant, Lindsey Wixson, Joan Smalls and Karlie Kloss are flown in to walk the runway. Fans flood backstage afterwards to catch a glimpse of 'Kaiser Karl'.
Guests are ushered around a cocktail for the Chanel pop-up boutique opening in Shibuya. The three-day Chanel events cumulate in a wild party at the First To-Un Building, where New York rapper Azealia Banks performs to dancing crowds. Lindsey Wixson, Karlie Kloss and Cara Delevingne let loose and saunter up to the stage, while Lagerfeld and his entourage stay put in the VIP area.
