Familiar territory pays off for Ho at Discovery Bay

Discovery Bay Golf Club member Mimi Ho took full advantage of course knowledge to lead the girls' division of the MacGregor Hong Kong Junior Close Championship after the first round on Lantau yesterday. Ho, 16, who won this title in 2010, fired a one-over-par round 72 to hold a one-shot lead over fellow Hong Kong international Kitty Lam heading into today's final round. Michelle Lee, who carded a 77, lies in third place, a further four strokes adrift. In the boys' category, Tony Jiang, 14, impressed with a solid 73, which gives him a one-shot lead over Fritz Lo. HK fields strong squad for squash tournament

Hong Kong will field a strong squad for next week's Buler Challenge squash tournament. Heading the list is world No19 Joey Chan Ho-ling, who has been seeded second for the HK$200,000 event. She will be joined by Liu Tsz-ling, Carmen Lee and Tong Tsz-wing. World No6 Rachael Grinham of Australia will spearhead a strong overseas line-up, which also includes Emma Beddoes of England, Siyoli Waters of South Africa and fast-rising Indian star Joshna Chinappa. In the men's event, Max Lee Ho-yin is seeded No1 with Hong Kong team members Leo Au Chun-ming and Dick Liu Siu-wai also in the line-up. The tournament starts next Tuesday at Hong Kong Squash Centre. O'Young grabs points in French leg of GTI series

Hong Kong ace Daryl O'Young made a successful debut in the FIA GTI World Championship in his new Lamborghini Gallardo, finishing seventh out of a field of 34 teams in round one in Nogaro, France. 'It was a great start as we scored world championship points,' O'Young, who teamed with Dutchman Peter Kox, said. 'I'm very pleased with the results we have achieved on my debut appearance.'
