Class Five miler goes back to tried and tested formula

When Dennis Yip Chor-hong-trained Class Five miler Lucky Army left the gates a little slowly this time, jockey Howard Cheng Yue-tin knew exactly what not to do. The gelding was a smart winner at Happy Valley two runs ago, then well beaten as favourite at his most recent start after resenting the tactics. 'Last time, I asked Howard to try to follow a bit closer, in midfield, then the horse was slowly away and he chased him along to get into that position,' Yip said. 'The horse is usually quite keen in his races but that made him overrace and he had nothing left to finish. This time, I just said to relax Lucky Army out the back and not do anything with him until the straight.'
