Sequins help the stars sparkle at awards night
If you're going to leave an awards ceremony empty handed, you might as well at least steal the show on the red carpet.
But this year's Hong Kong Film Awards were less flamboyant than last year, with the stars apparently toning down their wardrobe choices.
The sequinned gown proved a favourite on the red carpet.
Shu Qi took the best-dressed actress award in a stunning green mermaid number from Giorgio Armani Prive.
Best-actress award winner Deanie Ip Tak-han meanwhile opted for a lace ball gown with a sequinned bodice.
After walking the red carpet, Shu changed into an embroidered dress from high street brand H&M's eco-friendly Conscious Collection, pairing it with feather strap sandals from Jimmy Choo.
The young starlets also embraced the sequin trend.
Model-turned-actress Angelababy Yeung Wing rocked a low-cut blue Elie Saab frock, teaming it with Piaget diamonds.
Taiwanese actress Michelle Chen, of You are the Apple of My Eye, went for a delicately embroidered pastel Valentino strapless dress.
Elfin Taiwanese actress Kwai Lun-mei looked effortlessly cool in a flowing blue dress from Bottega Veneta - paired with 54-carat sapphire earrings and a diamond bracelet from Harry Winston.
With actor husband Tony Leung Chiu-wai by her side this year, Carina Lau Ka-ling played it safe in a little black dress from Gucci with a plunging neckline to show off some Cartier jewels worth millions.
And for the VIPs, the Moet & Chandon champagne booth was calling - set up in the Cultural Centre in Tsim Sha Tsui, where the award ceremony was held.
