Happy Index narrowly kept his unbeaten dirt record intact, but had Tony Cruz lamenting the victory took him one step closer to running out of races. 'It's one problem with the programme here that the good dirt horses quickly reach a point where there are no races for them,' he said after Happy Index (Matthew Chadwick) led throughout for his fourth success. 'These Elusive Quality horses have been successful in Hong Kong on the dirt, this horse loves it, but now Happy Index will go into Class Two and I'm sure there won't be anywhere to run him on it.' Cruz pointed out another of his horses, Crown Witness, revels on the dirt but, with a rating in triple figures, he gets only one or two chances a season to run on it.
