Radiomarelli will relish longer trip and dirt
Radiomarelli continued to progress with another gutsy performance in a competitive Class Three over 1,400m at Sha Tin last Saturday and looks ready to score next time out.
The Sean Woods-trained gelding arrived off a mark of 69 following a good maiden win in a 16-runner event at Windsor, a second, a third and a fifth from four straight course efforts in Britain as a juvenile.
He caught the eye in all his gallops and trials after landing at Sha Tin and showed he had acclimatised quickly with a sound fourth over 1,200m in his debut in January, before finishing second and an unlucky fifth over 1,40m.
This time in a wide-open race under Douglas Whyte, the three-year-old couldn't slot in with cover after jumping alertly from gate 12, rounded the final bend with three wider out before staying on dourly to finish a bob ahead of Scarlet Camellia for third - 11/4 lengths behind Supreme Flight and Flash Knight.
Radiomarelli is an American-bred son of Storm Cat stallion Van Nistelrooy, a winner of three over 1,400m as a two-year-old in Ireland and has sired five winners from 12 starters in Hong Kong, including More Bountiful, a retired winner of six races from 11 starts.
He is the only starter of three from Dove Hunt mare Sniffles, who was a Listed placed winner of four races from 1,600m to 1,700m and 14-times placed in America.
Radiomarelli appears from his latest effort to be looking for possibly an even longer trip and, according to his pedigree, should be able to handle up to 1,800m.
With American blood on top and bottom, he should be able to make his presence felt on the all-weather track as well.
