Luxury fashion brand Blanc de Chine demonstrated its clout when Chief Executive Donald Tsang Yam-kuen showed up at its party to celebrate the opening of its new boutique in Prince's Building.

The cocktail party, held next door at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, attracted more than 100 VIPs, including actor Andy Lau Tak-wah and filmmaker Ann Hui On-wah. Olympic swimmer Guo Jingjing and businessman Kenneth Fok Kai-kong also made a rare public appearance as a couple, fuelling rumours that they might tie the knot later this year.

Guests were entertained at the event on Friday with a performance by the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra and a presentation of Blanc de Chine's autumn-winter collection, themed 'So Ancient, So Modern'.
