Put your best foot forward with mum to help charity raise funds for drought-hit Gansu
If you want to do something different with your mum this Mother's Day, how about taking her on a hike for a good cause?
A Drop of Life will be hosting a charity hike on Mother's Day, May 13, to raise funds for residents of drought-hit Gansu province who have to travel long distances to get water. Each participant will walk with a bucket of water weighing 4.5kg to get an experience of the beneficiaries' lives.
The celebrity guests who have vowed to take part include actresses Anita Yuen Wing-yee, Shu Qi, singer-actor Richie Jen Hsien-chi and socialite Lelia Chow Mei-fung.
'I'm very impressed by their mission to help, and also I'm particularly passionate about supporting charities that are smaller in size because we work closely as a team,' said Chow, who has been supporting the charity for eight years. She has visited Gansu with a string of stars, including Yuen, Carina Lau Ka-ling and Tony Leung Chiu-wai.
'The trips usually take at least four days because of the remote location and poor transportation. The stars took part without a second thought. They didn't complain about anything and brought in more help,' Chow said.
