The Ocean Park Conservation Foundation appointed four-time Olympic diving gold medallist Guo Jingjing as a marine conservation ambassador at its annual charity dinner last week.

'Water has been an important part of my life since an early age, so I care deeply about the fate of marine life,' Guo (pictured) says.

She hopes people will commit to marine conservation by protecting the marine habitats of threatened species like the Chinese white dolphin and opting for sustainable seafood.

The theme of this year's charity dinner was 'National Treasures'. It highlighted the plight of species in category one of the state protection list, which includes the Chinese white dolphin.
