Douglas Whyte is down on his usual numbers, but his six rides can still carry him to the Jockey Challenge at appealing odds.

Whyte was $4 favourite last night, a strong middle part of the programme making him hard to beat. The South African rides Secret Of Winning, Champion Mount and Flying In in consecutive races, all of them winning hopes.

Later he climbs aboard Michael Chang Chun-wai's Kick Serve, who will be hard to hold out from a decent draw before riding last-start winner Sunrise from gate 12.
