Just the place for some fun

It's never easy shopping with children, but The Arcade, Cyberport, has many attractions to keep them occupied.

Wisekids has an 8,000 sq ft playroom where parents and children can hang out together if the little ones get restless. Play sessions are conducted by a consultant for a small fee. You can book ahead, but drop-bys are welcome.

The playroom is a child's paradise, with eight unique areas that include a sensory room with a different theme each month, such as the ocean or the rainforest. There is also a baby zone for children aged 30 months and under. Other play zones include a dressing-up area, a building site with blocks or Lego, a face-painting corner and a Kiddy Town where toddlers can play house with a laundry, sitting and dining area and more.

Organisers also arrange music and games, while older children are welcome to use the arts and crafts area. At the entrance to the playroom are some tables for bring-your-own snacks if your little ones get hungry. Down the escalator is a spacious Wisekids toy store.

The originator of the teddy bear, Steiff, has opened a store at The Arcade, selling not just teddy bears but a whole host of other cuddly animals as well.

Founded in 1880, the German brand's motto is: 'For children, only the best is good enough.' All its products are made from high-quality materials. It even has a range for adults called Collectible, with stuffed toys made from mohair, alpaca and other luxury materials. The store also carries its own brand of teddy bear-themed children's clothing.

Also interesting for children at The Arcade is Impression Books on the third floor. It has a good selection of books for young children and resource books for parents.

The Arcade management regularly allows outside companies to put on children's events in the mall, such as the recent Next Kids Sports Day 2012 and the Cyberport Baby Crawling-Jogging Competition. And there are other attractions such as the Broadway Cyberport cinema, which has four houses showing current releases.

For hungry children there are numerous dining options such as a small food court featuring international and Asian fare, plus Dynastie Kitchen for dim sum, Starbucks and Le Meridien's Prompt restaurant, which serves buffets and set lunches.
